The Captured Hellcat – Martin Ferkl describes the
fate of a VF-44 Hellcat, BuNo 71441, which performed
a crashed landing near Kobi, Formosa, on January 4,
1945. Two colour profiles show the aircraft as it
fell into the Japanese hands and then with the
Japanese marking.
An Accidental Victory – on April 13, 1944, Slovak
pilot Rudolf Božik identified a friendly Bf 110 G-2
as a USAF Liberator and shot it down. Fortunately
for the Slovak pilot, the German gunner, who
survived the attack, confused Božik’s Bf 109 E for a
